All the fibers are then randomly layered into a huge sandwhich. However many ounces of fiber you sent in is how much of the sandwich is returned to you. Since I've always enjoyed playing with my food, I spun my fibers into a fine single and used it for plying wildly over a plain worsted weight black single. The result is a highly textured yarn that will produce some intresting results when knitted & felted. Tags: spinning handspun yarn : Vintage Floral This yarn was spun from a deconstructed shirt I found at a tag sale. It took about 30 minutes worth of attempts to finally get the fabric to spin up, as it's super slippery and kept slipping apart. I've spun in segments and subs of wool & silk and plied in vintage bobbles and bakelite beads on a sulky holoshimmer thread. The yellow coils have angelina carded in for added sparkle. So HOT!!! : "Anarchy" ![]() I've been a total lame ass about updating or even posting to LJ. I've got some serious catching up to do. This yarn is my tribute to the 80's punk scene. When knitted, this yarn absolutely needs small chains pinned to the safety pins as well as metal studs added. Some cool punk band buttons would be a major bonus. February 19th, 2006February 5th, 2006: "Sizzle"
Hand cut woolfelt shapes threaded on snippets sparkly fun fur create a flame effect. Red sparkle pompoms were threaded on to fuzzy eyelash and also spun in along with generous amounts of angelina ruby flash. This was then plied with an orange viscose thread. Current Mood: Current Music: Transistor |
